Hydro Cello
Have you ever heard a cello performed in a dam? The acoustics are amazing.
Experimental and classical cellist Bridget Chappell will be performing a new composition in Junction Dam at Bogong Village. The piece was developed during her recent residency at the B–CSC and contemplates the fundamental frequencies of each of the four power stations in the Kiewa Hydroelectric Scheme.
As a cellist Bridget pursues a classical and experimental practice. She studies cello at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music, teaches privately, and collaborates widely. She is founder of the Melbourne Squat Orchestra, a scrappy classical ensemble performing in acoustically interesting found spaces.
